Product Overview
The 6-Person Underground Garage / Carport Storm Shelter is a compact, under-slab steel shelter designed to install beneath an existing or new concrete garage or carport floor. This model provides discreet, immediate access to storm protection without taking up usable garage space or requiring exterior excavation.The shelter installs directly beneath the slab, allowing occupants to access the unit without moving vehicles in most installations. A dual-lid system opens completely within the footprint of the shelter, eliminating the need for exterior clearance and providing redundant exit options if needed.
To protect against moisture intrusion and corrosion, all welds are dye-tested inside and out, and the exterior is coated with a hand-applied, two-part epoxy and tar blend. Steel angle stiffeners are factory-installed on all sides and across the base to prevent flexing during concrete backfill. The shelter is positioned slightly above the slab to divert surface water away from the lid area.
This model is suitable for both new construction and retrofit installations and includes factory guidance to assist homeowners and contractors throughout the installation process.
